Lynn first visited Corfu back in 2017 on a family holiday and found so much inspiration in this jewel of a Greek Island. While there she painted and sketched a few local scenes which have now sold and she thoroughly enjoyed capturing the beauty and vibrancy of this stunning place. She has tutored international workshops in France and The Netherlands but this will be her first time tutoring here!
Corfu has so much to offer the artist - quiet coves, rocky waterfalls, lush landscapes and vibrant bustling villages and harbours not to mention the superb beaches! Your artistic eye is pulled every which way here!
The week will be filled with sketching, painting and looking for the perfect spot to set up for some plein air painting. There is nothing quite as heady and artistically inspiring than being present in the moment and painting a beautiful scene laid out before your eyes. Lynn encourages the use of sketching and taking photo references which can be used back at the studio to remind you of the colour combinations you just witnessed. Lynn is also happy to include a session on portraiture and figurative techniques should students wish to work in the studio.
A little knowledge of using pastels would be advantageous but Lynn is happy to take on all skill levels from beginners to those who have a deeper understanding but are looking to advance their techniques in this most beautiful and forgiving of mediums.
The basic principles of colour, composition, tones/values will be covered, but Lynn strongly believes in getting her students to focus on truly observing things via drawing and looking at their subject in greater depth.
Lynn’s teaching style is very laid back, with the emphasis firmly on enjoyment, whilst allowing you to work at your own pace. At the end of each day we will gather as a group and discuss the days paintings over a lovely glass of wine, some delicious food and look at our work objectively. Lynn is always extremely encouraging and positive in her critiques as she believes that’s the best way to help students improve! What a great way to unwind after your days efforts!
Hopefully you will leave the workshop filled to the brim with inspiration, amazing new paintings, fabulous memories and some new likeminded friends!
What is included?
7 nights’ accommodation and 6 days tuition
Transfers from and to the airport (pick up will be at 3pm at Corfu airport or Corfu Town on May 9, unless otherwise advised, depending on the groups travel arrangements)
Transfers to all painting venues and excursions
Breakfast, snack/picnic lunch, dinner with wine
Greek evening with dinner and live entertainment
Meal at a local taverna in Old Perithia the oldest village on the island
Olive oil tour with tasting and meze at a local olive grove
Itinerary will be flexible subject to the weather
Painting at incredible venues (some secret!) with a couple of surprises along the way
